Yamaha FJR-1300AE
This is a bit off topic for our site but I found this interesting. The new Yamaha FJR1300AE is an automatic with no manual clutch! I quote the Yamaha website:
FJR1300AE receives, in addition to the other `06 refinements listed, heated grips and a Yamaha excusive electric-shift five-speed transmission that eliminates the clutch lever entirely—now you can click off supersmooth shifts using either the left bar-mounted paddles or the foot-operated gearshift lever.
Nice writeup at Motorcycle Bloggers. Or you can check it out at the Yamaha website.
I’m a bit of a purist myself and don’t think I would want a bike with no clutch. What do you think?

Not sure if I would like it or not. Maybe, the old three wheeler had no clucth but was a blast to ride. Bring one to me for a 5,000 trial and I’ll report back.

As a previous owner of a black ‘97 standard, I agree with you wholeheartedly. My Valk had the 2 Bros 6 into 6 pipes and every now and then it was nice to whack the throttle (a little bit) between gears to hear that awesome sound. I’m also curious to see how fast/natural the shifts are on ’spirited’ rides.
Thanks for the plug.
