Yamaha FJR-1300AE

This is a bit off topic for our site but I found this interesting. The new Yamaha FJR1300AE is an automatic with no manual clutch! I quote the Yamaha website:

FJR1300AE receives, in addition to the other `06 refinements listed, heated grips and a Yamaha excusive electric-shift five-speed transmission that eliminates the clutch lever entirely—now you can click off supersmooth shifts using either the left bar-mounted paddles or the foot-operated gearshift lever.

Nice writeup at Motorcycle Bloggers. Or you can check it out at the Yamaha website.

I’m a bit of a purist myself and don’t think I would want a bike with no clutch. What do you think?

Colorado Trip Pictures

Scotts ValkyrieRaymond and Rhonda from Kansas, Buzz from Edmond, Gary from Colorado and I spent a week riding the mountains of Colorado recently. We left for Colorado on Sept. 5th and returned to our respective homes on Sept. 11th. It was an amazing trip that covered almost all of SW Colorado as well parts of central and northern Colorado. A ride report will be posted soon but for now you can share our ride via the many pictures we took along the way. Here are the links to the various photo albums:

Looking for Oklahoma Chapter Leaders

As the VRCC state rep for Oklahoma I have a real passion for the Valkyrie and the VRCC membership. I’ve come to realize that because of my work schedule and the fact that I live out in western Oklahoma, I am not able to organize rides and other activities for our members statewide. As other states have done, I would like to find someone in Oklahoma City as well as Tulsa who would be willing to volunteer as the chapter leader for those areas.

I would like to see active chapters in the OKC and Tulsa area that get together to ride a least once a month or more if folks are interested. Its a great way to meet other Valkyrie riders in your area, and build friendships you would not have otherwise had.

If you are interested in being a chapter leader in your area, or would like to see one started please let me know. I would be happy to help you get going and will provide whatever assistance you need. Drop me a line at scott@okvalks.com
